Apple iPhone Vulnerability- Can be hacked by SMS ( Patch Released )

Charlie Miller, Recently discovered
a new Vulnerablity in apple Iphone, He can take complete control of your iPhone by merely sending a text message. And no, you don’t even have to open it!!! Miller demonstrated this flaw in the Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas on Thursday.

Once he takes control, Miller can exploit the hole to make calls, steal data, send text messages, and do basically anything that the user can do with his iPhone. And no, the handset doesn’t need to be jailbroken and the latest OS 3.0 update will not save you.

How it happened: The attack is enabled by a serious memory corruption bug in the way the iPhone handles SMS messages, said Miller, a senior security researcher at Independent Security Evaluators.

As a Answer to this Apple released a patch or update on Friday to fix this
Vulnerability, The company released iPhone OS 3.0.1 specifically to address the vulnerability.

The update can be downloaded through iTunes.

As per responsible disclosure practices, Charlie Miller and Collin Mulliner, the security researchers who found the flaw, notified Apple of the problem in advance
so the company would have time to prepare a patch.

The pair also identified a vulnerability affecting Android phones. Google said that it fixed the issue prior to the Black Hat presentation.
